An Essential Tool for Bushcraft & Wilderness Survival

Garberg is a wilderness knife created for those who love the outdoors and want a sturdy tool at hand, especially for bushcraft. Bushcraft is all about surviving and thriving in the wilderness by utilizing natural resources. It includes skills such as starting a campfire, building shelter, water purification, and food gathering. But it’s not just about survival—it’s also about deeply understanding and respecting nature. The One-Knife Philosophy is a popular philosophy in bushcraft that one knife is all your need when exploring. For us, the Morakniv Garberg is that one knife. It is a full-tang knife with a thick blade made from stainless steel or carbon steel, designed for tough tasks such as carving, cutting, and batoning. Its robust construction makes it a reliable companion in the wild.

Steel Options for the Garberg

Morakniv Garberg (S) – Swedish Stainless Steel

The Garberg is available in Swedish stainless steel (14C28N). Compared to carbon steel, stainless steel requires less maintenance and has better edge retention, stays sharp longer. It is also tougher and more resistant to breakage. Rockwell hardness: 58 HRC.

Morakniv Garberg (C) – Black Carbon Steel with DLC Coating

Garberg BlackBlade (C) features a thick carbon steel (C100S) blade with a protective DLC coating (BlackBlade). Carbon steel is easier to sharpen than stainless steel but requires more maintenance as it is more prone to rust in humid environments. The protective DLC coating helps prevent rust and minimizes reflections on the blade. Rockwell hardness: 57.5 HRC.

NOTE! Carbon steel is more susceptible to rust in humid environments—wipe and oil the blade after use.

Both versions of the Garberg feature a 3.2 mm thick blade and a un-polished spine compatible with ferro rods.

BlackBlade for stealth

Our coating covers the entire blade and is extra thin, ensuring that sharpness, precision, and hardness remain unchanged.

The black DLC coating not only protects against rust but also makes the knife more discreet in the field. Since the black coating prevents reflections and glare, the knife is well-suited for military use.

In other words, the Garberg BlackBlade is a carbon steel knife offering both strength and discretion.

Multi-Functional Accessories

Two practical accessories enhance the versatility of the Mora Garberg:

Morakniv Multi-Mount

A flexible mounting system allowing you to attach the knife almost anywhere—on a snowmobile, canoe, tractor, ATV, bicycle, or backpack. The system features strategically placed screw holes and slots for various straps and is also MOLLE-compatible.

Morakniv Survival Kit

An essential accessory for hunters and adventurers. It attaches to the knife sheath and includes an integrated ferro rod, diamond sharpener, and reflective cord.
  • Ferro Rod – Always ready to ignite a fire.
  • Diamond Sharpener – Helps maintain the knife’s sharpness after heavy use.
  • Reflective Cord – Provides extra visibility and safety in dark environments.

Scandi Grind Edge

Garberg features the classic Scandi grind, which ensures strength in every cut. The grind allows the wide bevel to bite easily into wood, making carving and crafting easier. With no secondary bevel, it is also easy to sharpen—simply lay it flat on a sharpener and sharpen. Perfect for maintenance in the field.

Full Tang Construction

Garberg features a concealed full-tang, encapsulated within the handle. The exposed tang at the rear of the handle can be used for striking, scraping sparks, or preparing tinder for fire-making. For adventurers, this knife offers exceptional qualities to tackle new challenges with precision and reliability.

Knife handle

The polymer handle is ergonomically designed, spool-shaped for a comfortable grip. It features a friction grip and finger guard, allowing for secure handling even in wet conditions. The handle also includes a click-lock mechanism to keep the knife secure in its sheath.

The knife case

The knife sheath is ambidextrous, making it suitable for both right- and left-handed users. It also features a Swedish leather strap for easy belt mounting. Alternatively, a leather sheath made from 3 mm thick, Spanish-made leather is available—combining durability with traditional craftsmanship.

The handle includes a hole for attaching paracord or other accessories, adding customization options and easy attachment to gear.
