Maintenance and Care for Fishing Knives

To keep your fishing knives sharp, safe, and ready for your next catch, proper maintenance is key:
  • Clean immediately after use. Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly. Don’t store the knife wet in its sheath.
  • Dry and store properly. Always ensure the knife is fully dry before placing it in its sheath.
  • Keep the edge sharp. A sharp knife is safer and more efficient. Use a sharpening tool regularly.
  • Check the grip. Make sure the handle is intact and still provides a secure hold. A worn or slippery grip is a safety risk.
With the right care, your fillet knives will stay reliable for years – from spring trout season to autumn salmon runs.
