Artur R. Andersson, a relatively unknown player in knife manufacturing in Mora

Bud-Carl Andersson was born in 1857 in Öna, Mora and was the son of "Önadoktorn" Bud-Anders Persson. In 1889 or 1890 Bud-Carl founded his carriage factory for timber sledges, as well as a knife forge for knife making, later known as Carl Anderssons Knivfabrik or Bud-Carlverkstaden as it was known locally.

Bud-Carl was only 67 years old and died in 1925, leaving behind a wife and three sons who also inherited his business.

Much later when both the wife and two of the sons passed away in the 1950s, the widow of one of the sons, Bud-Erik, sold her share to the company's comrade Artur Andersson from Garsås, Mora, who in turn sold half of his share to his relative Jannes Hallin, who already had the knife factory AB Moraknivar in Färnäs, Mora (formerly Hallin & Co).

The situation for Carl Andersson's Knife Factory became untenable over time and in the early 1960s another partner, Bud-Bror Andersson, had had enough and asked my father, Einar Eriksson, if KJ (i.e. K J Eriksson's Knife Factory) was interested in buying Bud-Carlverkstaden. KJ was allowed to buy Bud-Bror's share and then requested a public auction under the joint ownership law. Hallin's finances were such that he could not follow the bidding and after the auction KJ was the sole owner of Bud-Carlverkstaden. Einar, sensing trouble, immediately ordered the locks on the factory doors to be changed, but still did not feel completely safe and arranged for his brother-in-law Nils Legranäs to be the night watchman for the first night. At three o'clock in the morning, Artur came and tried to get into the office but was foiled when his keys no longer fit. What he was going to get there at that time of day we will probably never know. In any case, you can imagine that those were exciting days.

Label Artur R. Andersson AB 1
Artur then continued in one way or another together with Jannes Hallin and also sold knives under his own auspices, see cardboard label that I found at AB Moraknivar in Färnäs. Presumably these knives were stamped as "AB Moraknivar". Artur had certainly gained a lot of market knowledge during his time at Bud-Carl, which he then took with him to Färnäs.

I have been told the above information directly from Einar Eriksson and Per Wikstrand and secondarily from Bud-Lars Andersson via Per Wikstrand.
